Last week the FBI came over to question Albert about rudebox exposure and the missing Firas, I told them he was at lunch. It was only 9:45am but they fell for it - suckers!!!

Funbongo had a 'hit' from the Pakistan mountains yesterday. Albert was convinced it was Jihad's finest, Firas. We might have been wrong. We think we have spotted him in the video for Filthy Few favourites Cajun Dance Party. Although their dreadful haircuts and absence of style suggests otherwise, its an A-OK song.

Maroon 5



We went down to see Maroon 5 last night. We didn't have a ticket, Albert hid me under his invisible cloak but we got caught out. Apparently it isn't invisible in Kings Cross. So..... plan B. Plan B was to buy off a ticket lout/tout. The plonker wanted £90 a ticket. After 12 minutes of laughter we told him he was the next Paris Hilton and we wouldn't pay more than £20. He didn't sell them to us.

No great loss, we don't love Maroon 5 anyway. The five songs we have off the new album aren't amazing. The single is good but has a dreadful and expensive video.

The Groove Armada album is quite good. A Funbongo clan member is watching them tonight.

R Kelly and Usher have made a duet called 'Same Girl'. Its not as creepy as you would expect. Its no classic but not a bad effort either.

April Filthy Few Ft DJ Funbongo Live

Back once again for the Renegade Master. Yes The DJ Funbongo show returned with some bands. It was, of course, the mighty Filthy Few Live in Hoxton.

Albert popped his collar so hard that the bone came out and we had ram it back in. There were high-fives a plenty and free marmite all night behind the bar. Firas obviously drank vodka and gravy with an umbrella (an obvious tribute to the new Rhianna/Jay-Z track). The girls went. Yes, they all went after Albert's Rudebox fell out his trooooooousers (that's Scottish).

Don't remember what else. The set had to stopped early for autograph signing.

Christian K played another high callibre eclectic magical set. Big Boss Firas, who has gone AWOL, played Renegade Master and two other Calvin Harris songs that FunBongo didn't play. No-one has seen Firas since.

He did mention (in an erry camp voice) the words Pakistan, and training.

Someone said they saw him outside Daniel Radcliffe's changing room but that's unconfirmed.

There are also conspiracy theories abound that Albert kidnapped him to allow the release of Funbongo's Britney Spears CD collection at Filthy Few nights. Who knows...

Filthy Firas discovered this French chap, he was appearing on 'Starz in Their Eyes' with Matthew Kelly. Toxic Avenger was doing a Daft Punk song, probably that geography one called Around The World. On the very same episode Albert was appearing as The Sugababes Vs Girls Aloud



Here is the awesome remix, it sounds a bit like Daft Punk - Human After All and The Prime Time Of Your Life but then develops into a fantastic track.

While Firas was gettin' down with the Fire shoppers Albert took me across town to something quite different. Mayor Albert told me that we were going to see a fat, ugly American man who shouts a lot; I thought he meant Meatloaf. Imagine my surprise. Imagine Albert's surprise when it wasn't The Gossip (they are ok really).



Playing to a packed house James Murphy and Co did not disappoint. I wasn't a fan before but I am now.

As soon as I realised that Arcade Fire was not a Canadian super group featuring Celine Dion and Shania Twain I lost interest. So Fun Bongo sent the king of unsigned music, Filthy Few's Firas, to find out what all the fuss is about...

Arcade Fire were simply amazing to watch live.

Admittedly I'd never really heard any of their music prior to the gig; it was one of those last minute things that turned out to be a riot (not of the May Day variety).

Selling out an impressive 4 straight (G-A-Y is at the Astoria) nights at Brixton Academy (they found a cheap hotel there and got lazy), their sound was strangely compelling. I mean, they graced the cover of Time magazine; it doesn't get much bigger than that hey Jigga? (I dont see how these sentences link together)




Touted by some as a bit of an 'internet success' - David Bowie was apparently pivotal in getting them the attention they needed (this is all a bit vague isn't it?).

On stage they simply oozed charisma and charm. Their music came to life and captured emotions (rage, fear, greed, envy...) It showed someone who is perhaps enjoying a little too much of the synth at the minute that it's good to go old school every now and then. (I think he means using guitars and stuff; nothing to do with that Will Ferrell film)

The guys boasted an impressive band and instrumental set-up that even (Sir) Jools Holland wouldn't shake his rhythm and blues stick at.



Heavily independent and big believers of producing their own output (although they are signed to a major). They are apparently confirmed for Glastonbury this summer, the new album Neon Bible is out now - if you've not already, check them out. (Count me out, bunch of Bible bashers by the sounds of it)

They share the same manager as Bjork...(he also manages H from Steps and Rik Waller, sorry guys I am not posting any pictures of them)

Chris Martin of Coldplay and Gwennie fame (in case you didn't know) called Arcade Fire 'the greatest band in history' while performing at a concert in Ontario.....(what a suck up, Canada knows that Duran Duran are the greatest band in history)

Chrisov Martin has also contributed to the embarrassment that will surely be Hip Hop producer Swizz Beatz' solo album. So don't take anything Martin says too seriously. If you do you will probably end up in rehab on suidice watch listening to sh!tting 'Yellow'.

Filthy Few LIVE!

Firas landed in Hoxton again for installment number five of Filthy Few LIVE!. This time there was no teenage singer covered in bubblewrap spazzing needlessly out of control. None of the DJ's had the guts to play Britney Spears and Albert kept his trousers on.

However, it was a triumphant evening.



Hulk Hogan described it as

'Classy; a regal testament to parenting, an essential social glue in a time of shadows and strangers. A real competitor to Wrestlemania'

Firas managed to sift through the rubbish on myspace and find three incredible live acts. DJ's Rachel Barton, Christian K and The STDJ's are obviously no match for the mighty DJ Funbongo but they kept the crowd jigging with some 'banging' tunes. There were a few complaints about a distinct lack of 'Ja Rule' but that's an area for improvement.

Funbongo says: Good for a band with guitars, fantastic banter with the crowd and genuinely entertaining.

Firas Filthy Few screams: The Svengalis demonstrated their worth with rip roaring tunage, and entertaining segue banter. Energetic songs with well written lyrics showed why these guys are considered hot property at the minute akin to the Cajun Dance Party sort of VIBE!

The Neon Plastix



Funbongo says: Duran Duran meets Clockwork Orange - a real treat.

Firas Filthy Few yelps: The final act had down trekked down to Londres Town from far up North (Funbongo get a map) - with their electronic key's and synths. The Neon Plastix, put on a sterling performance for the Filthy Few masses - we loved it, they loved it, everyone loved it. All was gravy.

Me and Albert were busy at The Promises Rehabilitation Center (its in Tha US of A so I will use their spelling) for most of this week so we sent Da Boss over at Filthy Few to check out some new band.

Most new bands are rubbish. There are two many of them and the majority use guitars. We need more Keytairs.



Late of The Pier are actually quite good and worth a listen. Firas has bet his whole penison/mortgage/Oasis shrine on their success so I hope they make it big time because I don't want the Filthy Few coming round to Hoxton to find shelter. I also want some of the moolah if the wager works.

Late of The Pier

I've developed somewhat of an addiction to the music of these 4 Castle Donington lads for a year now. At times my friends have called me obsessive. I don't mind, I don't really care that much to be frank (Butcher - cheap gag but too tempting).

I remember the fateful day when I'd skived university to spend the day in Chateuax Shiraz (what is he talking about?) - when I got a call from a school friend of mine (Martin Fowler). Casually he mentioned a band from our home shire (Holloway Prison). I took it upon myself to investigate further - little did I know, 20 minutes later I'd be catapulted far off into a musical dimension not invigorated in my mind since the days of Oasis and Blur (deary me, move on Firas).



It certainly wet my juices (errr).

1 year on and they're playing at the TRASH hand me down DURRRR at London's AKA / End Nightclub. Far away from the smaller haunts of Nambuca, Notting Hill Arts Club & Bar Music Hall that they're used to. Playing to a packed out and rather sweaty audience, the performance they gave on stage evidenced just why Trash GODFATHER Erol Alkan (are you kidding me? I guess he is the Godfather of bad remixes) was jigging his ass in the way he did (maybe he needed the toilet?).



Classics (misuse of the word) such as 'HeartBeat' (I guess this is a cover of the Pet Shop Boys song or the theme to the TV show?), 'Broken' & new single 'Space in the Woods' all got a thrashing; newer material like the bone jangling 'White Snake' and one I can't remember the name of (I believe its called 'tits McGee goes to church') cemented their consistency and showed a different style.

One word you couldn't use in regards to these guys is pigeon hole (obviously, that's two words).

Unfortunately for us and them their set was cut short. Some muppet (three cheers for Albert! He was just doing what no-one else had the guts to do) in the crowd decided to feed vodka coke into Potter's mouth (free drink, what's his problem?) - his actions called spillage on their prime piece of electronic wizardry (a Casio Baby-G watch) and shorted the circuits (Johnny Five is alive!) .



The path's been carved out and you'll be seeing them very soon on some sh*tty sunday morning teenage show with presenters who don't know jack (I hope he doesn't mean T4). Only thing is, they'll turn it on the flipside (what?).
